Deepika padukone was born January 5, 1986 is an hindi film actress and model.she has established an successful career in Hindi lanuguage films of bollywood, and is sited in the media as one of the most popular and attractive indian celebrities.

• Padukone was born in Copenhagen to Badminton player Prakash Padukone .
• And was raised in Bangalore, as a teenager she played Baseball and Badminton for state and national level championships.
• She later discontinued a career and established herself as a fashion model.
• She had enrolled for Bachelor's degree in sociology, but dropped out due to sheduling conflicts with her modelling career.
• Padukone soon began receiving film roles, and made her acting debut in 2006 as the Titular character for kannada film Aishwarya.

• She has a younger sister, golfer Anisha padukone.
• Padukone was schooled at Bangalore's Sophia High School, and completed her pre-University at the mount carmel college .

Acting Career

Film debut and breakthrough (2006-09) :

• Padukone announced in 2006 that she would make her screen debut with Indrajit Lankesh's kannada film Aishwarya.
• The film a romantic comedy is a remake of telugu film Manmadhudu.
• In which she was cast in the Titulor role opposite actor Upendra.
• Upon release, the film proved a major commercial success.
• RG Vijayasarathy of Rediff.com was appreciative of padukone's screen presence , but added that she needs to work on her emotional scenes.
• However , at 55th filmfare awards padukone reeived a nomination for best actress.

Career struggles (2010-11) :

• Padukone had five releases in 2010.
• Her first role was in Vijay Lalwani's phychological thriller karthik calling karthik, where padukone was cast as the supported girlfriend of a depressed man who goes through a series of changes after receiving mysterious phone calls every morning.
• The film released to a mixed critical response and earned little profit at the box office.
• Her final appearence that year was in Rohit Dhawan's dramedy Desiboyz alongside akshay kumar , John abraham and Chitrangda singh , a role that failed to propel her career forward.
• The series of poorly received films led critics to perceive that padukone has "lost her sparkle".

Cocktail and beyond (2012-present) :

• In an interview with The Indian Express, Padukone said that her starring role in 2012 Homi Adajania - directed romantic comedy Cocktail marked a significant turning point in her career.
• Rediff.com opined and published that she has successfully proved herself to be a "stunning girl who can also act ".
• As of September 2013, padukone has 4 other projects in different stages of production.
• She had completed work on Sanjay leela bansali's adaptation of William shakesphere's Romeo and Juliet Entitled Ramleela.
• The film also stars Ranveer singh and Richa Chadda in lead roles and is sheduled release for November 2013.
• She is currently filming with Sharukh khan and abhisheik bachchan for Farah kahn's renewal of happy new year .
